The challenge is the run: 26.2, 13.1, 6.21 or 3.1 square miles through the desert of the Western Sahara in Algeria. During the Sahara Marathon, you will be running alongside people from across the globe in solidarity with the Sahrawi people.

This is not an easy feat. The run will challenge you both physically and mentally. This race presents you with a chance to grow as an individual and "live a better story," while contributing to a great cause.

To enhance the advocacy component of this challenge, the runners will be expected to independently raise money. Funds raised by runners will be donated to programs which address specific issues plaguing the Saharawi people, namely (add name/link) org and (add name/link) org. As an active participant in this challenge, will provide you an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of the Saharawi people, many of whom have been living as displaced people for over 30 years due to civil war and continued tension.

The marathon is a solidarity and advocacy run. Meaning, through press releases, media coverage, WE International’s social media networks, and your personal efforts, we intend to raise awareness and educate people on the plight of the Sahrawi refugees.

Funds will be donated to programs that address specific issues plaguing the Sahrawi people, namely a hospital that supports victims of land mines and a woman's health center
